This is really easy, so apologies in advance if it is old news to you. Want to keep your slug’s date and time spot-on? If you have an internet connection you can set it from your favourite time server. First, install ntpdate:
apt-get install ntpdate
then call it giving any suitable public time server:
ntpdate time.apple.com
if you need to find a time server try looking here.
You could automatically reset the time say once every day by using a crontab:
crontab -e
00 7 * * * ntpdate time.apple.com
That’s it!
